CHANGE NOTICE FOR MANUAL
MANUAL: Refugee Assistance Manual
CHANGE NO.: 1-2009 Date: May 1, 2009
TO: County Directors of Social Services
EFFECTIVE May 1, 2009, make the following changes to the Refugee Assistance Manual.
I. BACKGROUND
The purpose of this change notice is to update and clarify Refugee Assistance policy.
II. SPECIFIC CHANGES
A. Adds Special Immigrant Visa Afghanis and Iraqis to list of aliens eligible for the Refugee Program.
B. Clarification is added to consider a refugee, age 18 and over, for Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA), not just Family Planning MA only.
C. Reflects the section name change to Economic and Family Services.
D. New Chapter IV, Refugee Social Services. This chapter is to be used by the provider agencies under contract with the NC Refugee Assistance Program.
E. Refugee Assistance Program Monitoring is now Chapter V and includes Social Services Monitoring..
F. Updates to Appendices A, B, F, G, H and J.
G. New Appendices K – T which are associated with Chapter IV, Refugee Social Services.
III. IMPLEMENTATION INSTRUCTIONS
Apply this policy to all applications and changes taken or processed on or after May 1, 2009.
This policy has been reviewed and approved by the Economic Services Committee.
