FNS 230 Students

230.01 STUDENT REQUIREMENTS

A. An individual who is enrolled at least half time (as defined by the institution) in an institution of higher education is ineligible to participate in the Food and Nutrition Services Program unless one of the exemptions in 230.03 is met.

B. An institution of higher education includes, but is not limited to, a college, university, or vocational/technical school which normally requires high school graduation or an equivalency certificate to enroll.

230.02 PROCEDURES FOR DETERMINING STUDENT STATUS

A. The student is enrolled in any curriculum at a college or university that offers degree programs regardless of whether a high school diploma is required, or

B. The student is enrolled in a business, technical, trade, or vocational school that normally requires a high school diploma or equivalent for enrollment in the curriculum.

C. Enrollment begins the first day of the school term at the institution of higher education and ends when the student graduates, is suspended or expelled, drops out, or decides not to register for the next normal term (except summer school). Enrollment status during vacations and recess is determined based on the student's status just prior to the school break.

230.03 STUDENT EXEMPTIONS

A. A student is an eligible student and may be included in the FNS Unit if any one of the following exemptions is met.

B. If none of the above exemptions are met, the individual is an ineligible student and cannot be included in the FNS Unit.

230.04 STUDENT VERIFICATION
