The Budget Unit includes everyone who is in the family unit plus any other individuals that live in the home and are financially responsible for any family unit members. The following are included in the budget unit:
A. Everyone who is in the family unit
B. A parent or stepparent who does not meet the citizenship/qualified immigrant rule. The parent or stepparent is not required to provide or apply for a Social Security Number. (See Section 111, Citizenship/Immigrant Rules)
Non-family unit members, who are included in the budget unit are still required to provide information to determine eligibility, this information includes but is not limited to wage information. Non-applicant budget unit members are not required to provide a social security number, immigration status or citizenship status.
C. A child is not included in the family unit when the parent/caretaker fails to apply for the child’s social security number.
