RE: Drug Endangered Children Policy Revisions

EFFECTIVE:

December 31, 2008

Attached to this notice is the updated Drug Endangered Children chapter (Chapter IX) to replace the existing chapter found in the Family Services Manual. This policy has been updated to be more current with what is occurring in North Carolina today relative to methamphetamine issues. Please note that there are no substantive changes to this policy with this revision. The revisions were made solely to bring the policy more current with actual methamphetamine trends and issues in North Carolina at this time and to make the manual more consistent, stylistically, with the other sections found throughout the Children’s Services Volume.

This revision to the Chapter IX is being sent only via e-mail and will be posted on-line only. There will be no forthcoming hardcopy of this policy mailed to counties.

Please ensure that all staff members who have child welfare responsibility are provided copies of this material or can access it via the NCDSS web site. The Division of Social Services on-line manual web address is: http://info.dhhs.state.nc.us/olm/manuals/dss.

Should you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact your Children’s Program Representative or a member of the Child Welfare Policy Consultation Team at (919) 733-4622.
