DATE: MAY 12, 2003
Manual: Family and Children’s Medicaid
Change No: 20-03
To: County Directors of Social Services
Effective: June 1, 2003
It was brought to our attention that the policy for caretaker relatives as written was out of compliance with federal regulations. Policy has been changed to be in compliance with the regulations.
In order for a caretaker/relative to be eligible for Medicaid he has to be living with and caring for a child under 19 years old. The child does not have to be a recipient. However, the child does have to be a citizen or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence.
This policy is effective June 1, 2003. Apply to applications taken on or after June 1 or currently being processed. Apply to redeterminations scheduled on or after June 1 or currently in process.
Remove MA-3235, pages 1-2.
Insert MA-3235, pages 1-2, dated 6-1-03.
If you have any questions regarding this information, please contact your Medicaid Program Representative.
