I. bACKGROUND

The social security administration updated the life expectancy table in 2008, but mislabeled the update as “Period Life Table, 2004.” As a consequence, the table was not updated in ABD manual section MA-2240, Transfer of Assets, when the update was released in 2008.

ii. cONTENT OF CHANGE

Please use the table on page two of this Administrative Letter when determining life expectancy for transfer of assets analysis. The table associated with MA-2240 will be revised at a later date.

II. eFFECTIVE dATE

Use this table for applications in process or taken upon receipt of this administrative letter.
