The purpose of this Policy is to clarify the procedures for the recycling of waste for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS).
The DHHS has established policy and procedures for the disposal and recycling of waste.
The Division of Property and Construction is responsible for the overall management of the DHHS Recycling Program. The program requires each division/facility/school to develop a recycling plan and submit an annual recycling and waste disposal report to the division. The Departmental Recycling Coordinator in the Division of Property and Construction consolidates these reports into a departmental report, which is forwarded to the DENR—Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance. The departmental recycling coordinator chairs a waste management committee, which provides direction to the department’s waste management efforts.
